Dr. Jennifer Miles is busy getting to know the ะยฒสอ๘ family in her new role as Vice President of Student Services.

Miles began work Feb. 1, replacing Randall Harris, who is retiring March 31. As the head of Student Services, she will work with students from the application process through graduation.

She arrived at ะยฒสอ๘ from Widener University, in Chester, Penn., where she served as associate professor and Higher Education Leadership Program Director at the institutionโ€™s Center for Education in the College of Health & Human Services.

โ€œI believe in putting students first and am privileged to be able to engage in work that directly impacts students,โ€ Miles said. โ€œI look forward to getting to know our students, as well as the faculty and staff. I hope to build on the good work being done in the Division of Student Services.โ€

She plans to visit students on each campus this semester to share ideas and experiences, plus learn about their goals and insights.

Her experience also includes different positions at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus from 2011โ€“2020, most recently as Vice President for Student Affairs and Professor of Educational Leadership.

She has held several other higher education positions, including Coordinator of Student Activities at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston from 2001โ€“2002. She has a bachelorโ€™s degree in communication from Florida State University and masterโ€™s and doctoral degrees in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.
